I wouldn't mind trying that as a project in the next year or two DJ. Would you be willing to act as my technical adviser?

$800 dollars! I can get about the same gun for about $300. All you have to do is buy a hi-point carbine rifle, which only costs about $175, then you can buy the new "advanced technology" stock for it. Which is the exact same stock as the "CX4 Storm". After you put the new stock your hi-point carbine, it will look almost exactly like the "CX4 Storm". Except now it will have a better and more accessible site function. The only setback for the hi-point is hat is doesn't come in a .45 caliber, but it does come in both 9mm and .40 caliber, Also the Hi-point carbine is widely chosen by officers of the law for reasons of it's reliability on the field and off. The New Stock only costs about $70 and that about all evens out to about $300, so you are saving $500 on this overpriced gun.

Yeah, I was trying to decide between an XD and a Taurus 24/7, which is how I stumbled across your blog. The XD seems to get rave reviews. It's even got a fan club down here in Houston (see http://www.txdpsa.com/index.php). There's an article in the April(?) issue of TestFire about a 20,000 round torture test of the XD. Given the option, I'd like to fire both pistols first, but right now I'm thinking there's an XD in my near future. I'll send a range report if I get mine before you get yours.

Actually, I'm saving up. And I probably will get the Springfield XD .4. I have a post here wondering out loud about that weapon and it is by far the most popular blog entry I've done in a long time.

Lots and lots of people have made positive comments about the SA XD .40. No one has really made a negative comment. So I'm leaning that way.
