Camping Trip, October, 2004

You’ll probably see a number of these camping trip galleries appear on this site as time passes. The portion of North Carolina depicted here is absolutely beautiful year round, but especially so in the fall!

Nantahala National Forest, Fall 2004

These photos were taken in the Nantahala National Forest a few miles outside Highlands, North Carolina in October, 2004.

You probably don’t want to bother clicking the above link if you aren’t blessed with broadband. This is a HUGE chunk of data, with random pics of some of our family dogs located near the end.

We like to go camping about every three months in the forest. There are a wide variety of moderate to excruciatingly painful hikes in the area, and some really amazing scenery. Our camp site is right next to a rushing stream, and makes for some of the best sleep I ever get.

If you know me, remind me to tell you the story of when Stan fell into the campfire. I wasn’t there, but it’s still funny!

I love camping. I cant wait till the spring so I can get back outdoors again. Here in AZ the winters are just above freezing and the summer… Well I’m just gonna shoot for spring.

Couple of questions about your gallery and photos. Did you use Adobe Photo Album to create the page? And your pictures came out pretty nice. Are they digial or film +scan? What did you use to edit them? Looks like it was a great trip.

    Marc,

We do the camping trip every three months into Nantahala. I did use Adobe Photoshop CS to create the albums. I’m thinking of breaking up the albums a little bit more, they take forever to load over my DSL connection.

The camera is a 2-year-old Canon EOS 10D. It’s a 6.5 megapixel model SLR with a 28-200 zoom lens. I think the price has come down a lot since I bought mine.
