Democratic debate comments

The best thing about the Democratic Presidential hopeful debate is that it is over. I want to hear those fools debating even less than I want to hear the Republicans talking their game. Let’s start by summing up the leading candidates, shall we?

Hillary Clinton - Sociopath, reverse carpetbagger, socialist, powermonger, dangerous. Hillary would sell her own mother for a vote, and she would definitely destroy any individual in the name of "common good." Common good as defined by Hillary is anything that advances the fortunes of Hillary herself. If you want a sociopath with no soul in the White House, she’s the leading choice. This women changes positions more than a two dollar whore on a busy Saturday evening.

Barack Obama - Typical leftist. Barack wants to fix social ills. Problem: he wants to do it with your money. Barack is probably the least offensive of the three leading Democratic candidates, but like the others, his solution to any problem or perceived problem is to grow government. Government does not fix problems, it merely takes ownership of them and manages them. Once a government department is created, it will exist in perpetuity until the next revolution cycle destroys it. Barack will just grow and grow government. Vote for him if you want GDP to shrink and taxes to go up.

John Edwards - Professional vampire. Litigators are the modern day vampires of our society. John Edwards has made his fortunes by breaking the backs of others, purportedly in the name of justice. The truth is, this guy is a killer. He latches on to whole classes of people and drains them financially. There is no reason to suspect putting him in charge would suddenly change his behavior. It would just give him access to wider and wider groups of potential victims. Vote for John Edwards if you support the vampire class and want the country to became a dry, empty shell devoid of vitality.

The only candidate of note (in my mind) among the Democratic herd is Mike Gravel. Why? He called earmarks an abomination. They are definitely that, and so much more. Imagine being able to rob a bank the way Congress robs the American people - you walk in, hand your note to the teller, and then, in a leisurely fashion, debate how much money you want. Each robber gets to add his or her own demands. They get to take their time because they know the teller is a pushover and the cops aren’t coming; the cops work for the thieves. That is my earmarks analogy.

Now that you have my reality synopsis under your belt, feel free to read the pap mainstream summaries:

I’m getting sick thinking about how poor our choices are these days. I better go now.

The Press is having field day with this last debate.

Obama’s plan for socialized medicine scares the Heck out of me.. But it will feed him votes for the crowd that claims that were the last industrialized nation without universal medical care…

The debates are great. But we see what we want to see. I thought more of Bill Richardson, Joe Biden, and Dennis Kucinich as people, instead of caricatures. I thought less of Gravely, Edwards, and Obama.
Hillary showed me that she can be ‘presidential’ in her image.

I like Hillary, Richardson, and Biden at the moment.

I support healthcare for all and would give up corporate welfare and dictatorship support payments to make it happen. Those who think each business should pay for healthcare may leave the room. Not everyone works for a company, in case you had not noticed.

I am not ready to choose a candidate on their platforms or their past. I am still evaluating the gravitas that each candidate might bring to the office. I am looking for the seriousness in the convictions that each possesses and I will look later at what positions they hold.

I will do the same with the Republican debate tonight.

    Dale,

I could care less about a “presidential image” - what does that mean? Why is it important?

I’d love to give up the corporate “special interests” and foreign bribes we pay too, but I don’t want the exchange them for mediocre health care, which is what I call “universal health care.” The only way I would consider doing that is if the system was privately administered. Why should I trust government to care more about me than I do about myself? That makes no sense whatsoever.

I’m not sure if I understand your statement about choosing a candidate based on gravitas. I think their platforms and their past are just as important if not more important. For instance, Hillary cannot tell the truth, because for her, there is no such thing. For people like Hillary Clinton the truth is just a moving target - it is whatever leads to the next rung on the ladder of power.

The same applies to most of these candidates on both sides of this crappy two-party system.

Tonight during the republican debate I heard them all endorse universal healthcare and global warming. I heard them talk about the obscene profits of the oil companies and the lack of profit re-investment into the oil infrastructure.
I thought I was watching the old progressive party that I once knew.
The debate about “no healthcare for all Americans” (in 1991) has changed into “healthcare for all Americans but not socialized medicine”. A rose by any other name.
I actually heard someone say that business cannot afford healthcare and speak about people who do not work for companies and how to help them. That was so progressive.

Oh, I imagine I will have to hear the Republicans demonize the Democrats for “socialized medicine” (which nobody wants) for a few years before a bi-partisan bill appears to provide a method to make this healthcare available for all. Okay, I can live with that. I remember when the Republicans fought against the very idea of healthcare for everyone (2004). Go Tommy Thompson!

I thought both debates were great. No pundits obscuring or spinning the import of words or gestures.

At the moment, Ron Paul looks like a wild-eyed prophet come from the desert: there is truth there but the city dwellers do not want to hear it. I liked Gilmore, Romney, and the pastor governor…what was his name?
