I think peace officers are a good idea, but they need to be educated from the beginning about what serve and protect actually means – there should be severe penalties for peace officers who abuse the people they are supposed to be protecting.

That’s a damned shame. 9 times. Wow.

I was going to try to defend the police in general on their hiring and training practices, but well, it’s kind of hard. I’ll just take the moment to applaud the select departments that are specifically moving away from hiring the john wayne mentality and looking more towards educated officers that understand and employ the community based policing models.

Cops in general: best avoided.

I realize that many cops are just nice people in uniforms. Unfortunately many other cops are just little Hitlers in uniforms. And we’re training more of the latter than we are of the former.

I briefly dated a chick from Winnfield in the early 90s. She asked if I’d sleep with Halle Barry, to which I shot her the “of course, are you nuts” look. To which she said, “But she’s black.”

OTOH, we got some good AF ROTC guys from around those parts that didn’t have a lick of that in ‘em.

Cops in small towns: best avoided. Except maybe in Texas.
