Pet food contamination
Friday, 23 March 2007 | 436 readers so far
So 16 dogs and cats have died from what is now being called rat poison in their food supply.
So far, I haven’t heard anyone in the media speculating on this, but what if this whole pet food debacle is just a test. After all, wouldn’t it be just as easy to put rat poison into the human food supply chain? I wonder how many would die before that got stopped.
What if someone is planning on putting something much worse than rat poison into your next Big Mac? No worries, Homeland Security’s best crack agents are on the job.

I’m with you on this one. I was thinking the very same thing so Ityped it as a search and your comment/blog was all I found. Apparently you and I are the only ones worried. I thought that in the wake of 9/11 there were labs set up by Homeland Security to do random and frequent tests of both human and pet food supplies. Obviously this isn’t being done or it would have been caught early on. By the way, I think your site is cool and will bookmark it. Oh - the total of 16 deaths of pets is way too low - we have had nearly that many reported in the Phoenix area alone. Regards, Carrie Wade from Tempe, Arizona

Scary. Even more scary, I didn’t think of that scenario. I’m glad you pointed it out.

Interesting take
Look at the scare of Ecoli in the California lettuce a few months back.
If a food supply attack happens.. there will be a lag between any “prepareness” to track it.

As I sit up late again another night with my two sick cats, I am furious that the “un-named U.S. supplier” of the contaminated pet food glutten still has not been revealed to the public, just like the identity of the “un-named produce supplier” was never released when the contaminated Taco Bell was served up to the masses. The previous postings are dead on! If Shadow or Simba bite the dust, these greedy corporate heads who care more about profits than safety will have a lot to answer for!
ABCNews said Menu Foods learned of the problem when 10 out of 40 cats in their regular taste tests died - that is 25%!!!!! - and they STILL waited weeks to alert the public. This is a cool blog and I am sure someone here could tell me the exact war statistics but am I not right in assuming that my cats would have a better survival rate had they been serving in IRAQ??????
Thanks for letting me vent!

Yes, the survival rate in Iraq is MUCH, MUCH higher than 1 in 4. Exponentially higher.
This story is still developing…
