Pre-emptive gun buying

With an Obama presidency imminently looming I’m planning on making some firearms purchases prior to the turnover. It’s not that I feel a sense of panic without a collection of weapons around me. I don’t really care what the gun rules are – I have little respect for those laws because they do nothing to improve the way American culture values human life. I’m just being practical – if I want certain high capacity rifles in certain calibers with certain features now is the time to purchase, not after a man who believes that banning tools will change hearts and minds is in power.

Speaking of self-defense, Obama is completely opposed to that as well. In the decades before the Heller decision, many parts of Chicago put handgun bans in place that necessitated making the use of a handgun for self-defense illegal. (Think about it — how could you legally use an illegal tool to protect yourself?) Proving he meant it when he said states, cities, and municipalities should be able to regulate and restrict the Second Amendment, Obama supported these unconstitutional bans when a 2003 case in Wilmette, Ill. provided him the opportunity to stand up for the “individual right” he also claims to support.

What happened in Wilmette was simple: a citizen “used a handgun to defend himself from a dangerous repeat offender.” He killed the attacker, and although the killing was ruled an act of self-defense, the innocent man faced jail time for having used a handgun to defend himself. Many Illinois lawmakers realized that such a charge was illogical and moved to change the law so as to allow the use of a handgun for self-defense. And guess what? — Obama opposed the change in legislation (four times). Did you get that? — OBAMA OPPOSED LAWS THAT ALLOWED USING HANDGUNS FOR SELF-DEFENSE.

Expect all the same foolishness we’ve been treated to before. The bottom line message is that only government is responsible enough to defend your life and property. Unfortunately that’s not true. I work in government so I should know. You – the individual – will always be the party most motivated to defend your own life. If you aren’t it probably isn’t worth living in any case.

Remember this – freedom can never come from outside. It’s a mental state. If we can train our citizens from birth in the ways of serfdom then most of them will never understand freedom. We’re doubly successful if we can get them to mouth empty phrases like “land of the free and home of the brave” all the while chipping away at their individuality and choices. The dumbing down of America is almost complete. Get back to your reality show while I get back to researching guns.

You might consider buying a large supply of ammo for the guns you already own. Buy it at a gun show. Use cash, not credit cards. Obviously, His Excellency President Obama sees no reason that we peasants should possess ammunition.

You might consider acquiring a large supply of high capacity magazines for weapons you already own. Extra springs and followers might not be a bad idea. Lord Obama is sure to ban high capacity mags.

You might also consider buying a gun or two from private individuals rather than dealers. Any gun bought from a dealer is, for all practical purposes, registered with the federal government. Once again, use cash. If the seller wants to record your name and address, blow the deal off. You might also consider some "off-site storage." Under Lord Obama, the ATF will be empowered to inspect the premises of anyone who has ever purchased a firearm.

Finally, I hope that you're not assuming a mere re-enactment of the Clinton AW ban. "Semi-automatic assault weapons" that we already own might not be grandfathered this time. Obama and his crew are communists. They'll almost certainly demand outright registration of guns they don't like, and eventually all guns. Then again, their ban could be confiscatory, and might not be limited to evil-looking long guns and high cap mags.
