Ruger Mini 14

The Ruger Mini 14 is a new centerfire target rifle I would love to get my hands on!

I can just feel the accuracy from here. Target shooting is one of my favorite leisure time activities.

New Ruger Mini 14I guess I better start saving, at $1,000 retail, it’s probably going to have to wait for my Christmas bonus to hit the old checking account. Google Ads are nice, but at $2 a day in revenue, I’ll be waiting a long time before I can pay for a Mini 14 with revenue from this blog.

Here are some mixed user reviews.

I’m not quite sure the link above is referring to the Mini 14 pictured here, since they were written in 2004 and Ruger is advertising this Mini 14 as new in 2007. I found a Mini 14 fan site, and the model they have pictured is significantly different.

I know lots of you gun owners cruise this site – please comment.

I have a mini 14 target rifle I bought new for 850.00. I have put 300 rounds through it now, and it is pretty accurate considering it is still a mini and I am no pro. I have only shot cheep ammo ( remington 55 grain and federal 55 grain from Wal-Mart) 10.00 for box of 20 not bad. I have got it to shoot consistant 1.5-1.75 groups at 100 yards. I have fun with it BUT, it is no tack driver as far as I am concerned. Again I am no sniper or wanna-be sniper nor have I tried match grade ammo. I have never shot an A.R 15 so I cannot compare to them. I have had problems with the harmonic comming loose after a dozen or so rounds, (more than once) and put some locktite on the last time. The gun always fires<no jams ever> I have shot ak 47 that would jam 1 or 2 out of every clip. Over all its a cool gun, fun to shoot, pretty accurate for me, I dont regret buying it, and I'll keep it for a long time.

I've owned the new Mini-14 Target for almost 3 months now and I can tell you it's more accurate at 200 yds. than any of the AR-15's I've owned (I've owned several). After field testing several of my reloads I've gotten 2.25" groups at 200 yds. shooting 52 grain BTHP's with Varget powder. Winchester factory 55 grain FMJ's work very well too. I was so impressed with the rifle that I wrote Ruger to inform them of how well the rifle performed! If you want a .223 semi-auto that you'll be pleased with then spend the money for the Target Mini-14.

I have just purchased my first mini 14. I bought it used it looks and shoots like a new one . I didn't notice until I got home that the gun had the Chief AJ logo on barrel and had compensator made by him . Iwas wondering if there is any other people on this sight with the Chief AJ UPGRADE

There are different versions of the Mini 14. The one pictured here is the target version, meant to compete with the target grade AR15s. Base line Mini 14s aren't as accurate, but can be had for less than 600 NIB (some Walmarts still carry them). The line was upgraded in general in 2005 and the current models are quite handy.

Might be worth the cost if the barrel length is indeed 22 inches

But the Mini-14 is a good weapon for simplicity.
