the m& p is more user friendly due to ablity of the 3 gripz sold with the gun, I have both and would recommend either of them compared to the aukwardness of the glocks. The spring feild gives you more with the price though, coming with the holster, loader and the clip carriers all with the case, If Ihad to do it all over again i would buy the springfeild first and then the M&P, but I would definently get them both because two is always better then one!!!

Also any springfeild you get also comes with the assesories above, where as all other guns only come with one x-tra clip and the case., I am a newly converted springfield fan and love all my wounderfull guns from sprinfield; 9mmsubcmpact,40 cal full size, & 45 acp.
Oh never buy any smith and wesson sigma's cause although they are cheap, they are the worst gun that i have ever fired!!!(the trigger takes a inch to release the firing pin and you have to release it another inch to fire the next round, awfull!! save your money and get a M& P!

I carry the M&P 40 on duty every day at work. I love this gun. I had my Glock 27 stolen out of my truck a few weeks ago and now have the opportunity to buy a new pistol. I have given this a lot of thought. Do I buy another Glock 27 or do I buy a different off duty gun? I am going with the M&P 40C simply because I shoot the full size version and it is a dream to shoot. Now I can have a sub compact version as my conceal carry gun and have the same feel and trigger characteristics as my duty weapon. The only thing that I will change is to get full size magazines and put a sleeve on them for the extra rounds. The Glock is a fine weapon, however, the M&P can do everything that the Glock does and I can change the grip to customize the feel for ME.

I own a sub XD40 and I love it. Of all my firearms I carry this one the most off duty as I like it better then my duty weapon which is a Glock 22 (good weapon but I like the XD better). My past agency (Washington State) I worked for issued S&W M&P 45ACPs which felt good but malfunctioned way to much. Mostly failure to battery. We sent them back to S&W and when they came back they continued to Fail to battery. I normally would right this off as "limp wristing" but it is happening to the SWAT guys who deffinately dont have limp wrist. Just my observation for both weapons. I just wish I could carry a XD on duty.

The negatives about the XD SubCompact .40... Very long trigger pull which then leads to a very sore trigger finger if you do a lot of shooting. I'm told that Springfield Armory will improve this trigger problem for about $300. Too expensive for me... I just won't shoot it very much. Everything else about the gun is excellent, but the trigger would stop me from ever purchasing another one.
