What is wrong with America in 2008

I’ll take care of him and he’ll take care of me. That’s a great sentiment if you’re talking about a husband and wife couple. When you are talking about someone who uses the power of the gun to force people into compliance with policies I’m less likely to get excited about the idea of you taking care of him and him taking care of you. That’s because no one is taking care of me, particularly if I find a policy unpalatable.

Optimism is a wonderful thing. I wish more Americans were more optimistic. I wish I was more optimistic. I work at it. Obama hasn’t managed to get me in an optimistic mood yet. I’ll pay more attention now that he is president elect. Maybe my mood will change.
