These are in the order of priority from most to least important. Every one is critical for the health of the nation as a whole.
- Education
- Tax system
- Two-party system
- Dietary habits
- Television habits
- Tolerance for lobbyists and lawyers
- Dependence on social services
- Idolization of idiots (Paris Hiltonitis)
- Overmedication
- Concept of personal responsibility
What ten things would you change?

I have to say, I really wouldn’t change anything on here, I have to agree. Except, I might put the two party system issue at #2 over the tax issue.
Also, as pissedbroad mention, I like the new layout.

Two Party System?
Sorry I do not buy into that one. The Two Party system is a American fantasy that unfortunately has become fact and many political scholars praise it to high heaven. Even though there is NOTHING in the US Consitution that dictates that there are only two political parties. How can one claim to be a Libertarian (even in feelings) and expouse this necessary to the health of a nation. While the Democrats and Republicans are telling everyone to Ignore the minor parties all together?
But personally I would put Concept of Personal Responsibility as Item #1. It would solve a great many problems on down the list..

Kitanis, I think the “Two Party System” is something that needs to change, not something that is necessary.
Also, good call on Concept of Personal Responsibility.

It’s none of the government’s business what I eat, how much TV I watch or what meds I take. Number 1 should be abolishing the nanny state!

1. overmedication… can’t respond to a symptom when you’re making it disappear. Life hurts sometimes for a reason. So I’d change that first…. so that…
2. Personal responsibility could be next. If we weren’t a society that has to feel good all the time, we might realize that we mold our future… so under this heading, I would lump tv habits, diet, education, no dependence on soc svc… as I think they are one and the same. If I’m to be responsible for myself, I need to face the consequences of my actions. Not be rescued when I make stupid decisions.
3. idolization of morons… well, if we weren’t steeped in antidepressants and alcohol (how ironic is that) we could better assess reality… so I guess this would be fixed by getting rid of over medication.
4. Tax system… hm… a tough one… they keep it so not understandable, that I wouldn’t know how to change it.
5. Lobbyists/lawyers… can be a cool checks and balances.
6. 2 party system? we’re more than a two party system. I just got that education one of the family gurus… so, maybe that should be schlepped under education for me.

Trevor says:
Kitanis,
Recipher was correct - these are all things that should be CHANGED - voluntarily by Americans working together.
The Democrats and Republicans have actively worked at all levels of government in this country to make it nearly impossible for third parties to be successful. They’ve used a variety of what I consider dirty tactics to do so.

I think the Concept of Personal Responsibility should be #1, followed by Education. I believe the rest would almost follow naturally after that.
Maybe?

Very True trevor.. and the proof that both parties doing that is in tonights State of the Union Address…. its sickening to see how the politicians are making political gain whie the President is doing his duty to speak to the nation and the congress.

I think use of natural resources should be on there somewhere, whether it is our dependance or reserch of more efficent methods to harness them. Certainly this is more important than idolizing idiots. Actually, I thing idolization and TV habits are one in the same. I would put depenence on social services higher.
