I was struck by one question posed by the Chief of Police… “Do you have a site on Facebook or MySpace that would bring discredit to yourself or the department as a whole?” When I answered no to both sites, she immediately stated “lets just see” and started to type into a laptop. What floored me was when she looked up and stated, “You are the first person who told me the truth to that question”.

That surprised me in a shocking real way. I later found out that two prime canidates who are more qualified than me told them no and had some real doozy postings on MySpace. I was told to stand by for more interview questions in a later meeting and possibly get ready to purchase a plane ticket for a in-place meeting.

Yes there is a trail on the internet and folks need to be careful. Another thing I have been told by job recruiters is that there is a Huge pattern of lies about qualifications, hence the reason of “play acting” interviews are starting to become the norm to weed out the problems.
